Apollo Bay has the most amazing beach only 100 metres from Captains. Other points of interest are Marriner’s Lookout which is a short drive and looks out over the Bay and Marengo which has a seal colony on a reef not far from the beach and has an interesting lava feature. The Barham River is also worth a drive along as you arrive into rainforest 3 kilometres from town and the river has platypi as residents.

The Great Ocean Walk

Walk 91 is operated by Nancy and Mark Kininmonth. They are experts in arranging walks of varying lengths and difficulty along the Great Ocean Walk which extends for 91 kilometres from Apollo Bay to the Twelve Apostles

Otway Fly Treetop Adventures

The Otway Fly is an hour’s drive from Apollo Bay and is a suspended walk in the treetops. There is also a zip line for the more adventurous. There is a great driving loop which takes in a short walk at Maits Rest, a quirky café at Ferguson, the Otway Fly, Triplet Falls and then Turton’s Track and back to town.

Old logging town of Forrest

Forty kilometres from Apollo bay is the old logging town of Forrest. It is now a thriving mountain biking centre and has a microbrewery, Platypi Chocolate café and kayak tours on Lake Elizabeth for platypus spotting. On the way to Forrest you can visit Stevenson Falls.
